США расквартировали своих военнослужащих в турецком городе Малатья, где они будут служить на новой РЛС НАТО. Как передают турецкие СМИ, об этом в интервью Associated Press заявил командующий Сухопутными войсками США в Европе генерал-лейтенант Марк Хертлинг.

Он отметил, что радиолокационная станция на юге Турции обслуживается американскими специалистами, не уточнив их точное количество. "Очень полезная станция. Планы по созданию и развертыванию компонентов системы ПРО в Европе реализуются в соответствии с графиком. Я думаю, что мы подошли вплотную к осуществлению противоракетной обороны", - сказал он.

Развертывание РЛС на авиабазе в провинции Малатья было осуществлено Пентагоном в конце прошлого года в соответствии с утвержденным президентом Бараком Обамой поэтапным планом создания ЕвроПРО. В середине января радар был введен в строй.

In the figures and tables that follow, NATO also uses economic and demographic information available from the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission (DG ECFIN) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
